Accessibility Statement
Thompson's Station Hardware is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.
Last updated: April 12, 2026
Our Commitment
We believe that everyone in our community should be able to access information about our store, our services, and our construction progress. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, the standard recommended by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and widely adopted in the United States.
What We've Done
Our website has been designed and built with the following accessibility features in mind:
- Semantic HTML — headings, landmarks, and page structure are marked up so screen readers can navigate easily.
- Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements can be reached and activated using a keyboard alone.
- Descriptive alt text — every meaningful image includes a text description for users who cannot see it.
- Visible focus indicators — keyboard users can always see which element is currently focused.
- Color contrast — text and interactive elements meet or exceed WCAG AA contrast ratios.
- Reduced-motion support — animations are disabled automatically for users who prefer reduced motion in their operating system settings.
- Responsive design — the site works on phones, tablets, and desktops, and supports zooming up to 200% without loss of content.
- Touch target sizes — buttons and links meet the recommended 44×44 pixel minimum size for easier use on touch devices.
Known Limitations
We are always working to improve, but a few areas may not yet meet the highest level of accessibility:
- Embedded third-party content — the Google Maps embed and background drone video on the homepage are provided by third parties. We work around these where possible (for example, the drone video is muted and can be paused, and it has appropriate ARIA attributes), but some limitations may remain.
- Construction photos — we add photos regularly as the building progresses. If you encounter any image without a descriptive caption, please let us know.
Assessment & Testing
The accessibility of our site is evaluated using a combination of automated tools and manual review. Our design uses WCAG-compliant color tokens and accessibility-first patterns from the ground up.
